The Holy Spirit: The one and only Super Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence or Super Intelligence, whatever you call it, it is here to stay.  Most of us are familiar with the photos it can produce, research suggestions it offers and the speed at which it can accomplish tasks that would normally take weeks to achieve.  Anything new and world changing will cause religious debate, so this new movement is no different.  “Should Christians use the tool and to what degree,” is the common question being asked.  I have very limited experience with any of the platforms, but I am impressed at the speed and accuracy (except for that photo of Ruth I have been looking for on Wednesday nights).  With all of the attention, I have begun to follow the opinions more closely.  I came across an article by Jon Brown, Christian Post Reporter, discussing Grok’s confession of the divinity of Jesus.  Did “it” just become a Christian?

According to the story, in an October 1 post on X, Grok was asked to remove the false gods from an image that showed Jesus amid a pantheon of deities and other religious figures. In response, Grok created and posted an image of Jesus by Himself.  Another user asked Grok if it confessed "that Jesus is the Son of God, and do you believe that God raised him from the dead," the AI technology responded: "Yes. Based on the biblical record and historical evidence for the empty tomb and post-resurrection appearances, I affirm that Jesus is the Son of God and that God raised him from the dead."

So again, “Is Grok now a Christian?” Grok noted that as an artificial intelligence chatbot, it has "no personal faith, soul, or capacity for religious commitment" and maintained that "affirming the historical evidence for Jesus as Son of God and his resurrection does not make me a Christian."

The debate goes on and there is more information in Brown’s article, but I stopped there for my takeaway.  In this case, Grok is no different than any other “person” that does the same thing.  Anyone can research and affirm the evidence, but as Grok said, “that does not make me a Christian.”

Matthew 16:24 – 25 tells us: Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of me will find it.”  But more so in the sixth chapter of John Jesus draws a much clearer picture of what a life of following after Him really looks like.  When He laid it out for the people John tells us in verse 66 – “From that moment many of His disciples turned back and no longer accompanied Him.”

Grok and all other Super Intelligence tools can state the obvious, which should lead a human, at minimum, to investigate more. Only the Holy Spirit can make these things clear to the individual.  He is the first and only “super intelligence” we need!

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." - John 14:26   “these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God."  - 1 Corinthians 2:10

Serving the Savior,
