It Is Never Too Late For God

Have you ever had the thought “I’ve gone too far for God to use me?”  A past sin, purposeful disobedience or you might think it’s simply too late for you; here’s hope!  The Bible is full of examples of everyday sinful people that God used in wonderful ways after their sinful behavior was disclosed.  You might reply to that, “well those are Bible folks, that’s why they are there!” True, but those men and women were human, just like us.  So, if that is your argument, here a three, modern day examples of how God can use anyone at any time He gets ready.

Chuck Colson: From Watergate Scandal to Prison Ministry

Chuck Colson was once known as President Nixon’s “hatchet man,” involved in the infamous Watergate scandal. After being sentenced to prison, Colson experienced a profound spiritual transformation. While in prison, he gave his life to Christ and founded Prison Fellowship, one of the world’s largest outreach programs for prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families. His story is a remarkable testimony to how God can use even the most broken moments in our lives to lead us to a greater calling.

John Newton: From Slave Trader to Hymn Writer

John Newton, the author of the famous hymn “Amazing Grace,” lived a life of sin as a slave trader before his dramatic conversion. In the midst of a violent storm at sea, Newton cried out to God for mercy, and that moment marked the beginning of his spiritual journey. Newton renounced his former life and eventually became a pastor, advocating for the abolition of the slave trade.  “Amazing Grace” reflects Newton’s gratitude for the grace that saved him, and his story serves as a profound reminder of God’s ability to redeem even the most hardened hearts.

C.S. Lewis: From Atheism to Christian Apologist

C.S. Lewis, renowned author of “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, was once a staunch atheist. After years of intellectual struggle and influence from Christian friends like J.R.R. Tolkien, Lewis surrendered his heart to Christ. He went on to become one of the most influential Christian thinkers and apologists of the 20th century.  His works, including “Mere Christianity,” “The Problem of Pain,” and “The Screwtape Letters” (WHBC Book Club) continue to inspire Christians around the world. Lewis’s story is a reminder that God can reach anyone, no matter how far they may seem from faith.

I know you have heard of these people, or at least you have heard their story.  Your story is no different.  You might not be judged by the world as a scoundrel, slave trader or atheist, but you and I are both sinners saved by grace and our stories can all end the same.  A life, from the point of conversion, lived for Jesus and a legacy of grace, through faith salvation!
You might not recognize it, but you make a difference in your scope of influence.  Don’t doubt the power of God in your life, no matter what you leave in your rearview mirror!!

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  Matthew 19:26

Serving the Savior,

Bro. Jonathan
